Jobcentre Plus Recruitment Subsidy Changes
The Jobcentre Plus Recruitment Subsidy scheme, which was due to run until the end of March 2011, has been withdrawn earlier than planned.
As part of government efficiency savings, the £1,000 recruitment subsidy for people who have been out of work for over six months will now end on 30 June 2010. This includes those that are entering Routes into Work jobs as part of the Young Person 6 Month Offer. Any Jobcentre Plus customers starting employment after that date are no longer eligible to attract the subsidy. Therefore claims for payments from employers must be received on or before 30 July.
The second £500 payment element of the subsidy will be paid as normal if the customer has not returned to benefit within 26 weeks after starting the job. To allow for the wind down all second payments of £500 will be made by 31 December 2010.
Employers can still sign the terms and conditions until 30 June but payments can only be made for customers who have started work by that date.
