Are you either a business adviser or someone who employs external business advice?
In which case, you need to know about SFEDI accreditation: the nationally recognised scheme that assesses the competence of business advisers.
The Dept for Children, Education, Lifelong Learning and Skills (DCELLS) in the Welsh Assembly Government (WAG) have already identified the importance of SFEDI and has made it obligatory for all contractual practitioners to have SFEDI accreditation, which means approximately 175 practitioners will be SFEDI accredited within the next 12 months.
The purpose of the accreditation is to ensure that business advisers have the ability to provide a high standard of advice and support as well as demonstrating their commitment to continuing their own professional development to maintain their performance.
The accreditation also helps to give business advisers confidence by identifying areas they are good at and areas where they may particularly benefit from further development, such as:
· Knowledge and understanding of key areas of business · Building relationships · Developing networks · Improving and monitoring business performance · Change management · Reflection and self-evaluation · Professional development
Subject to meeting certain criteria, some public sector organisations are supplying funding towards attaining the accreditation to their advisers or advisers who work in their focus areas, such as social enterprise.

“My SFEDI accreditation gives me recognition and credibility. It is a mark of quality for the genuine Business Support professional that sets a standard across the industry. It will help to make my business more successful and stand out from the crowd, reassuring clients that they are in good hands.”

Recognising Excellence is the only SFEDI Centre of Excellence in the South West and Wales that can provide official assessment and accreditation and place properly assessed people on to both the SFEDI Directory and the National Register of Business Advisers.
The Institute of leadership & Management (ILM) and SFEDI will issue all successfully accredited candidates with a certificate. All accredited advisers will be able to use both the SFEDI and ILM logos.
To retain SFEDI accreditation it must be renewed every 2 years, therefore if you have attained it in the past, now may be the time for renewal. Contact Olive Corner at Recognising Excellence today on 02920 020 908 to find out more.
Who should apply for SFEDI accreditation?
SFEDI is suitable for both organisations that provide business advice and individuals.
It is also particularly well suited to organisations that work on behalf of the public sector. |
